Bob Doherty
As a student, Bob took an interest in math and science. He really enjoyed the applied aspects of engineering, particularly mechanical and civil, being drawn to their environmental applications. After completing the environmental program within the Civil Engineering college at the University of Washington, Bob started his career as a bridge construction inspector for the Oregon Dept. of Transportation (ODOT). This in-depth exposure to bridge construction led him to his true passion for bridge design. Bob quickly moved into the bridge engineering department at ODOT and, a few years later, into private engineering work. Over the next 12 years, he worked for a medium sized full-service engineering company and a small structural specialty firm. Since coming to Otak, he has enjoyed developing his craft for design with the varied project types that have come to define the firm.
